The Space
The Piazza was a retail revitalisation project delivered by SPACEMRKT in partnership with Yolk Property Group. Located in the heart of Fremantle’s café strip, the previously underutilised South Terrace Piazza was transformed into a vibrant hub of vintage retail, creative studios, and rotating pop-up tenancies.
Launched in mid-2022, the project hosted more than 14 small businesses across medium-term and temporary leases. Tenants included vintage and upcycled retailers such as Hickey Hardware, Vintage Ten, Yeah Vintage, Upcycling Mutz, and The Picker, alongside independent designers and makers.
The Impact
The Piazza became one of Perth’s most concentrated vintage retail clusters, drawing new foot traffic to the precinct and demonstrating the potential of flexible leasing models in supporting local enterprise.
The project exemplified SPACEMRKT’s approach to place-based activation, making creative use of vacancy, curating diverse occupants, and fostering new energy in underperforming commercial sites.
